Coyle Free Library Raises Flag
The first flag was raised at the all new Coyle Free Library in downtown Chambersburg on March 1, 2018. The flag was a gift from the Honorable Congressman Bill Shuster and was ceremonially flown above the US Capital on October 3, 2017. Chambersburg Mayor Walt Bietsch and Nancy Bull, Constituent Services Representative, raised the flag while Lydia Story, a student at Shalom Christian Academy, played The Star Spangled Banner on the trumpet. Those in attendance, including several Veterans, then recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
To date, the Franklin County Library System has raised over $1.8 million toward the $2.5 million community goal for the renovation and expansion of the historic Coyle Free Library on Main Street which reopened to the public in December 2017.
