HERITAGE CHRISTMAS IN THE SQUARE

Continue a family tradition, or start a new one by joining in Heritage Christmas in the Square!  Held Fridays, December 3 and 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., this is a family-friendly event.

Stroll through downtown Greencastle and enjoy the tree in Center Square, entertainment, giveaways and tasty treats from local community groups, food vendors and more!

The Highline Train Station will be open and has a display you don’t want to miss, and bring your letters to place in Santa’s Mailbox. Your visit won’t be complete until the kids visit with jolly Saint Nick outside The Life Center, and don’t forget to stop by the Holiday House, your information station about all things Heritage Christmas!

HORSE & WAGON RIDES

During Heritage Christmas in the Square, enjoy a Horse & Wagon Ride with friends and family. Rides depart from the Center Square every 30 minutes beginning at 5:30 p.m. and continuing until the last departure at 8:30 p.m.  

Tickets are $10 per person, with children under two riding free on a lap. Advanced purchase is advised. Order tickets online at:

Tickets also available by contacting the Chamber of Commerce at 717-597-4610. Remaining tickets will be available at the Holiday House in the northwest corner of the Square on both Friday nights. No refunds will be provided, but every effort will be made to offer an alternative date in the case of severe weather conditions.

LIGHT IT UP

The Light It Up house decorating contest is back!

Houses in the Greencastle-Antrim area are invited to go “all out” with displays of lights and decorations that will delight the community this holiday season.

Contestant entry is open through November 30.

The community will decide the winner based on popular vote (open December 1-19); vote for your favorite house by contributing $1, which will be donated directly to the Greencastle-Antrim Food Pantry.

COMMEMORATIVE ORNAMENT

Trim Your Tree with “Claus & Paws!”

The 2021 Greencastle-Antrim Heritage Christmas ornament is now available. Celebrate your pet (or just your love for animals) with a festive “Claus & Paws” ornament for your tree.

Ornaments are $20 and cash or check are accepted.

SHOP SMALL SWEEPSTAKES

Kick-off (or finish up!) your Christmas shopping at Chamber member businesses between November 20 and December 17 for chances to win cash prizes!

To enter: make purchases at five different Chamber member businesses; fill out a Shop Small ticket; and bring your receipts and ticket to the Greencastle-Antrim Chamber.

Shop Small tickets are available at the G-ACC, at the Holiday House during Heritage Christmas and at local businesses.

Receipts will be returned after entering. Winners will be drawn on December 20.

HERITAGE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING

On November 19, get in the holiday spirit with the official tree lighting sponsored by Herald-Mail Media.

The community is invited to gather in the square for the ceremony that starts at 7 p.m.

Bells sponsored by Antrim Way Honda will be distributed for ringing, as the tree lighting ceremony concludes with the magical lighting of the tree by the Lights of Love.

The tree is sponsored by Antrim Township and the Borough of Greencastle.

PHOTO CONTEST

The holidays are a time for making memories with family, pets included! Get in the holiday spirit and grab a Santa hat for your dog, cat, rabbit, lizard, hamster or any other animal friend, because “Pets are Family, Too.”

Submit your creative holiday pet photo from November 1-16 and contribute $10 to enter to win prizes. Photos of pets will be posted online and in the windows of local businesses.

Winners will be awarded by popular vote in the categories of most festive dog, cat and other animal. Voting is open between November 26 and December 19 for $1 per vote.

Proceeds go to the Antietam Humane Society. Winners will be announced on December 20 via the G-ACC Facebook page.

LIGHTS OF LOVE

Community members are invited to honor their loved ones this holiday season by dedicating lights on the Heritage Christmas tree in the Greencastle square!

Purchase a light for just $8 “in celebration” or “in memory” of a loved one, and their name will be listed on scrolls displayed in the windows throughout the Christmas season at the Cumberland Valley School of Music and Fran Kenawall State Farm office in the square.
