Hagerstown Community College was founded in 1946 as Maryland’s first community college. More than 100 programs of study are available for university transfer, career preparation, or personal development, as well as non-credit continuing education courses, customized training programs and Washington County’s adult education program.
Penn State’s Mont Alto campus offers five bachelors and eight associates degrees, and is a springboard for students to complete one of the system’s more than 160 majors at other Penn State locations.
At the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown students attend classes provided by six participating institutions: Copping State University; Frostburg State University; Salisbury University; Towson University; University of Maryland, College Park; and University of Maryland University College. In 2016, at Hagerstown, these universities offer 13 undergraduate and eight graduate degrees, and two graduate certificate programs.
